2nd Annual Charlie Fidler Golf Day Saturday, September 08, 2012

For the second year running, September 2012 saw the return of the Charlie Fidler Golf Day at West Herts Golf Club. Teeing off after lunch, 12 teams of 3 balls battled out over 18 holes.  Two competitions were in play, best individual stableford score and the best team score using a yellow ball. The rules were such that each team was presented with one yellow ball, which each member of the team should take turns in playing.  If the ball was lost, then the team was out of the competition....

1st Annual Charlie Fidler Memorial Football Tournament Sunday, July 01, 2012

A red and white balloon release for Charlie, marking the start of the Annual Charlie Fidler Memorial Football Tournament. July 2012 marked the first Charlie Fidler Memorial Football Tournament hosted by Charlie’s club, Hemel Hempstead Town Youth. Teams playing were from Charlie’s age group (under 11’s), including Hemel Hempstead Town Youth Reds (Charlie’s Team) and HHTY Whites and Blacks. Teams were also represented from Hemel Aces, Berkhamsted Raiders and the Arsenal Academy.  A fabulous day of football concluded with Hemel Aces emerging as champions in a hard fought victory over HHTY...

Barn Dance Saturday, June 16, 2012

Dust off your cowboy boots and don your check-shirts…its time for a hoe down!   Over 100 seasoned Barn Dancers and first-timers to the Barn Dance circuit took their partners by the hand on Saturday 16th June to raise funds for Charlie’s Gift. The hilarious evening of tangles and the odd tumble was deftly co-ordinated by Barn Dance caller Anna from ‘Hedgerow Tipple’.  Anna’s task at times surely must have seemed akin to herding a flock of unruly sheep, yet she guided us rowdy rabble through the dance steps with...

Zumbathon Saturday, December 03, 2011

The Zumbathon event at South Hill Primary School in Hemel Hempstead on Saturday December 3rd attracted scores of people, all dancing to raise funds for The Pepper Foundation. The Pepper Foundation provides hospice at home care for sick children in the Dacorum area. The children's Zumbathon, followed by a Ladies event at the school where Charlie was a pupil, raised a grand total of £3,700 to fund the fantastic work of the Pepper Nurses.
